The situation
The First Church of Christ on St Georges Terrace is a heritage-listed building in the Perth CBD. Protek was engaged by Palassis Architects to carry out roof, elevation, and window remediation works, restoring the building’s envelope while respecting its historical, architectural, and cultural significance.
Works included demolition, external remediation, masonry repair, mortar repairs, stonework repair, pacifying rust in structural steel, timber works, roofing and roof drainage, glazing, doors, and painting. Every intervention had to meet heritage conservation guidelines.

The challenge
Heritage buildings don’t forgive shortcuts. Every repair had to be carried out in a way that preserved the character and fabric of a listed structure, the right materials, the right methods, the right level of care.
The work also required strict dust control throughout. Frequent vacuuming kept the work area clean and minimised dust spread in and around an active CBD location. Painting defects identified at practical completion were remediated the following day, no delays, no argument.
Our Process
