The situation
The Town of Claremont needed both changerooms at its aquatic centre fully refurbished before summer. The facility had to stay operational the entire time, when the male changeroom closed, the female had to remain open, and vice versa.
The scope was comprehensive: full demolition, waterproofing, epoxy flooring, new louvres and glazing, tiling, joinery, plumbing, electrical, exhaust fans, and painting.

The challenge
Two things defined this project.
One: sequencing. There was no window where both changerooms could close at once. The male side had to be completed and reopened before work on the female side could begin.
Two: quality control. Mid-project, slip resistance testing on the epoxy floor returned a result below the required P3/P4 rating. Both changerooms closed for two days while the floor was re-laid, retested, and signed off.
How we approached it
We staged the works so one changeroom was always available to the public. All progress communicated through scheduled meetings, regular email updates, and a Clarifications Register tracking every decision and approval.
When the floor issue emerged, we moved quickly, two days of closure, new floor laid, tested, and signed off. Non-conformance formally recorded, processes updated. The project finished on time and under budget, with both changerooms fully operational for the start of summer.
